I have an E6420, Win7 32-bit, and appear to be caught in an infinite loop of can't getting Bluetooth turned-on, drivers installed, or even showing that it is available. There is no option displayed in any network settings window or control panel that shows Bluetooth or any options for it.

The Device Manager is showing no item related to Bluetooth. Bluetooth has nothing showing in the Windows Mobility Center. I went to the BIOS settings, and all possible buttons are selected to enable Bluetooth, etc., so it is not the hardware settings. I've tried installing / reinstalling the latest Bluetooth drivers from the Dell support site, but about half-way through, I get a dialogue box saying, 'Activate Bluetooth using Wireless Switch' with the only other option from there being 'Cancel installation'. The hardware wireless switch on the side of the laptop is already 'on', confirmed by my WiFi being enabled and working. Based upon this, I can't install any Bluetooth driver and can't seem to get past this point to even access Bluetooth settings. Is there any trick to fixing this short of rebuilding the system?
